Do I need to adhere to regulation 522.6.204 when

Question:

Hello,I am installing cables in a ceiling with insulation and wooden joists with 50mm battens bellow the joists. Where the cables pass over the 50mm battens, they will meet reg 526.201, but when the cables are horizontally between the battens and connect to light fittings, they will then be less than 50mm. Does this mean that I need to adhere to regulation 522.6.204 and install metal coverings below them?

522.6.202/203/204 are related to cables in a wall only, not cables in a ceiling.

So you can do, but that would be optional.
