The KLX300 is a highly-versatile lightweight dual-sport motorcycle that keeps going when the road ends. Delivering quick-revving power and versatile performance, this highly-capable bike is ready to take the adventure to paved streets, backroads, trails, and beyond. Wherever you ride, the fun is endless on the KLX300.
Since its initial release in 2021, the Kawasaki KLX300 motorcycle has been providing unlimited on- and off-road fun for a wide range of riders. Staying true to its roots, the KLX300 lightweight dual-sport motorcycle comes ready with all the tools necessary to deliver an exciting riding experience, taking on paved streets, back roads, wooded trails and beyond. For 2024, the KLX300 continues to let the good times roll with a fresh-new, sporty look. Returning to the KLX lineup is the updated KLX300SM, offering an nimble, sporty package for navigating the streets.With all-new styling and bodywork, the KLX300 and KLX300SM feature a sharp design that flawlessly flows from the front fender to the tail. Including a compact new LED headlamp condensed rear fender, and all-new KX-inspired styling, the latest KLX is sure to turn heads on the dirt or the pavement.
Returning along with the KLX300 for 2024 is the updated KLX300SM, helping to further expand and solidify the KLX family of motorcycles. Its quick-accelerating engine, paired with light, agile handling, makes the KLX300SM a great choice for navigating the streets.
ENGINE
The new KLX300 dual-sport is powered by a 292cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine with a rewarding spread of power across the rev range. The engine features cam profiles sourced from the KLX300R off-road model, an electrofusion cylinder and ultra-hard coating in the aluminum cylinder. The result is a crisp throttle response that complements the motorcycle's rider-friendly low to mid-range power and offers improved engine reliability. A lightweight piston, piston pin, and connecting rod also contribute to power-producing revs and help lower reciprocating weight.
The fuel injection system contributes to reliable starting in a wide range of conditions and electric start makes firing up the KLX300 a breeze. Optimized ignition timing and a gear-driven engine balancer also contribute to a smooth engine with an easy to use power delivery, providing maximum rider comfort during long trips.
The use of dual radiators and a slim radiator size keep the KLX300 running cool. An innovative radiator fan cover directs hot air down and away from the rider, significantly increasing comfort when stuck in heavy traffic or operating in warm riding conditions.
Gear ratios on the KLX300 facilitate shifting for optimal performance off-road and on. The KLX300 features a honeycomb catalyzer and a secondary air system for cleaner emissions, along with a spark arrester.
CHASSIS & SUSPENSION
The KLX300 features a box-and-tubular-section high-tensile steel perimeter frame that creates a slim, lightweight package, for easy rider maneuverability and excellent handling on- or off-road. A 26.7- degree rake and short wheelbase provide quick handling characteristics, while the rigid frame ensures a composed ride. The lightweight, aluminum D-section swingarm also contributes to low unsprung weight.
The 43mm inverted cartridge-style fork handles the suspension up front and comes with compression damping adjustability. A New Uni-Trak suspension can be found on the rear, which contributes to road holding ability and bump absorption. A gas-charged shock with preload and rebound damping adjustments allow riders to tailor suspension settings to better suit different riding conditions. Overall, the KLX300 has 10-inches of total wheel travel in the front and 9.1-inches of travel in the rear.
BRAKES & WHEELS
Front and rear petal disc brakes on the KLX300 offer impressive stopping performance with a twin-piston caliper gripping a 250mm disc up front and a single-piston caliper gripping the 240mm disc in the rear.
The KLX300 comes fitted with a 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel mounted on Dunlop dual-purpose tires, offering plenty of off-road possibilities. Excellent wheel rigidity contributes to light, smooth handling and offers outstanding durability.
ERGONOMICS
The KLX300 dual-sport motorcycle receives a comfortable handlebar position that puts the rider in a relaxed and upright position to deliver a composed ride. Footpegs are also positioned close to the bike's centerline for an optimal riding position.
Complementing the new KLX300 adventure capabilities is a fine-tuned seat design for added comfort on longer rides and a 35.2-inch seat height for increased stability when stopped.
INSTRUMENTS & STYLING
The KLX300 receives a styling refresh for 2024. Built into a slim, newly-designed sharp front cowl, and a new compact LED headlight offers ample lighting in front of the motorcycle, adding to its overall fit and finish.
The new front fender design contributes to the overall sporty looks of the KLX300, and slim, KX-style shrouds adds to the character of the motorcycle while allowing smoother rider movement. Further emulating a KX™ motocross bike, the new rear fender design helps to create an elongated silhouette and a more compact taillight is now positioned farther forward on the fender, adding to the sleek looks of the motorcycle.
To add to the sporty KX-style, a two-tone seat cover helps emphazise the distinct lines created by the bodywork.
An all-digital instrument panel offers the rider valuable information at a glance. The instrument panel features a digital speedometer, bar-type tachometer, clock, dual trip meters, and a range of warning/indicator lamps.
• Compact LED headlight is encased in a slim, sharp new front cowl. The headlight is stacked dual design with low beam in the upper portion of the light and high beam in the lower portion. New covers hide the headlight mounts for a more streamlined look.• New front fender design contributes to the sporty silhouette.• KX-style radiator shrouds are longer and slimmer, especially at the ends that are 24mm slimmer on each side, for greater rider freedom of movement.• Two-piece side covers are slimmer for better freedom of movement, and the two-tone colors contribute to the flowing design.• Two-tone seat cover helps enhance the line of color created by the bodywork.• KX-style rear fender contributes to the elongated silhouette, while the taillight is positioned farter forward for a more compact, nimble appearance.• Updated rear flap matches the new fender and effectively helps shield the rider from water and mud.
ENGINE
Compact Liquid-Cooled Engine• 292cc displacement is17% more than typical 250cc class models for more power while maintaining the light weight and nimble feel of a 250.• Flat top piston with pentroof combustion chamber delivers 11.1:1 compression ratio.• Lightweight piston, piston pin and connecting rod allow power-producing revs without excessive vibration.• A gear-driven engine balancer ensures smooth power delivery throughout the powerband, delivering greater rider comfort on long rides.• High-capacity Denso radiators similar to the KX™ line provide high cooling efficiency. Their slim profile and tightly packed cores make the radiators smaller and lighter, while the special fin design provides excellent heat dispersion.• Radiator fan cover located behind the radiator directs hot air down and away from the rider, significantly increasing comfort when negotiating heavy traffic. Redirecting the air also helps keep the tank and other parts that contact the rider cooler, further increasing rider comfort.• Catalyzer and secondary air system help reduce exhaust emissions so that the KLX300 meets strict emissions regulations and can be sold in all 50 states.
Electrofusion Cylinder(KP)• The incredibly hard coating in the aluminum cylinder bore means superior heat transfer with less weight.• It holds lubrication well, resists abrasion and seizure, and allows tight piston-to-cylinder clearances for more horsepower.
4-Valve DOHC Cylinder Head(KP)• Camshaft profiles from the KLX300R contribute to top-end performance and quick throttle response.• 4-valve cylinder head provides maximum valve area for optimum flow.• Boosts low-end torque.• Cam profiles complement intake port design and contribute to the smooth, quick-revving engine character.• A cam lobe for each valve with shim-under tappets has less reciprocating weight for efficiency at high rpm.
Kawasaki DFI(KP) System• 34 mm throttle body is equipped with a sub-throttle that contributes to mid-high rpm performance.• Ultra-fine atomizing 10-hole injector helps boost performance and provide very smooth throttle response.• DFI provides easy starting, smooth idling, increased performance and better fuel mileage.
Electric Starter• Electric starter and the Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release (KACR)(KP), which automatically lifts an exhaust valve at cranking rpm, makes starting the KLX300 easy.
Digital Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI)(KP)• Optimized ignition timing contributes to a strong yet easy to use power delivery at low and mid-range rpm that transitions smoothly to the powerful top-end.• Digital ECU precisely controls timing, no matter how fast the RPM changes.• Easy starts and reliability under extreme conditions.

SUSPENSION
Relaxed Ergonomics• The ergonomics put the rider in a relaxed, upright position, for easy maneuverability and control.• Footpegs are positioned close to the bike's centerline for a slim riding position suitable to both on- and off-road riding.• Thickly padded seat contributes to comfort on longer rides.• Seat height and design were carefully considered to help riders reach the ground for added confidence when stopped.• Narrow fuel tank contributes to the comfortable riding position and has a lockable, hinged one-touch cap.
